
Home Study Services
A home study is a process that involves three meetings with the prospective adoptive families. It is a time for the agency to get to know you and for you to learn more about adoption. In order to adopt in Virginia, state law requires that you have an approved adoptive home study.
Adoption is regulated by the Commonwealth. The following are reviewed during your home study process:
- References that you provide
- Medical and financial information
- Criminal Record Background
- Child Protective Services Background
- Department of Motor Vehicle Background
There are several visits to our office and home visits during this process. The average amount of time for a home study is three months but this can vary depending upon individual circumstances.
