Gifts of Stocks or Bonds
A gift of long-term appreciated securities has two major advantages. It provides the donor with an immediate income tax deduction and eliminates a capital gains tax to the extent allowed by tax law. Typically donors have stock transferred from their brokerage account to the account CHS holds with Charles Schwab. Electronic transfer is the safest and fastest way to give stock to CHS. Instruct your stock broker to notify Jan Gray at CHS when shares are transferred to:
