Waiting Families

Glen and Lori
Hi! We are Glen and Lori and we are excited at the opportunity to share our lives with you through this letter. We cannot imagine how difficult this path must be, but we hope that our letter will provide some encouragement and hope for you. It takes a great deal of courage, and love for your baby, to consider adoption and we pray that you will have the strength you need to make this selfless, heartfelt decision. We thank you for considering us and we hope to give you a sense of who we are and how we will raise a child in a loving, nurturing home filled with unconditional love.
A Little About UsGlen and I were college sweethearts. We met our freshman year and quickly became best friends. We could talk to each other about anything, had a lot in common and loved spending time together. We could not imagine our lives without one another and it just seemed natural that we get married a few months after graduation.
We have now been married almost 4 years. Glen went on to law school and is now an attorney. Glen loves what he does. He is a big fan of history and politics and enjoys the challenge of figuring out the law. I am a first grade teacher at an elementary school near our home. Teaching children how to read and love learning new things is my passion.
Glen and I have a wonderful relationship that is built on friendship and love. We always have a lot of fun together. We enjoy being active and often go hiking and skiing. For the past two years we have played on co-ed sports teams and have had a blast! We also enjoy reading, watching movies, trying new restaurants and getting together with friends. We have two pets—Jack our cat and Janie our dog.
We are excited to add to our family and become adoptive parents! Due to infertility, we are unable to have children on our own. However, we feel that adoption is truly a blessing that will enable us to love and care for a child. We feel blessed to have some members in our family who have had good experiences with adoption. Glen’s aunt used to work at an adoption agency and I have one cousin who is adopted. Our families are supportive and excited about the adoption!
Our Home
We live in a little neighborhood with a mix of young families and retired couples. We live within walking distance of a playground and a library. Many families ride their bikes and take walks in our neighborhood.
Our area also offers many opportunities to go to museums, see plays, and attend other cultural and community events. We are looking forward to sharing these activities with our child.
Good education is something that we value. We are very fortunate to have excellent schools and teachers in our community. Our child will have an excellent education. We also feel college education is important and it is something that we will encourage.
Our two-story home has three bedrooms and a large fenced-in backyard that is great for running around. We also have a basement that would make a great playroom. My favorite room in our house is our family room. We have a big comfortable couch that is great for snuggling up and reading. We also have a little sunroom attached that goes out to our back patio. We enjoy cooking out and entertaining friends and family.
Our Families
Glen grew up in Virginia and his family is just a short drive away. We often get together for dinner on the weekend. Glen’s mom is an amazing cook and I have learned a lot from her. Glen’s dad has a great sense of humor and always keeps us laughing. Glen is the oldest of three. He has a younger brother who is in college and a younger sister. We also have some special yearly family traditions like cutting down the Christmas tree and spending a week together at the beach in the summer.
I am originally from Philadelphia. My family still lives there. My parents recently retired and moved to a farm. We have a lot of fun going there and walking around the beautiful rolling hills. My older sister, her husband and their 8-month-old baby boy live close to my parents. I also have a younger brother in college. I have a close family and we try to visit with each other as much as we can. Each year my grandparents host a big 4th of July picnic that we all go to. My family also comes down to Virginia several times throughout the year. They enjoy coming for an extended time during Christmas, Easter and in the summer.
About Glen
Glen is a loving, dedicated husband. He is wonderful to talk to and joke around with. He always has a good time with whatever he is doing and can make me laugh in an instant. He is passionate about life and helping others. Glen is active within our church and enjoys serving the community. Glen will make an amazing father and will be a wonderful role model. In Glen’s spare time he enjoys playing with our dog, running and reading.
About Lori
Lori is a wonderful wife and will make an awesome mom. She is loving, patient and organized. She is a well-loved first grade teacher and will be a caring, nurturing mother. Lori would like to stay at home to raise our family. I know she will use her experience as a teacher to help our child understand adoption and the loving choice you made. Lori enjoys hobbies, including trying new recipes, painting, decorating and getting together with friends.
In Conclusion
Thanks so much for reading our letter and getting to know us a little better. We are excited to add to our family through adoption and will do our best to raise a happy and successful child. We are a warm and caring family that is ready to shower him or her with love.
Our prayers are with you!
Sincerely,
Glen and Lori
