Waiting Families

Daniel and Emily
The decision you have made for your baby is such a courageous one and no matter which family you choose, we admire and applaud your choice. We hope this letter helps you to get a glimpse into our family and that it gives you peace about choosing a loving home for your child.
We have always had a desire to adopt, even before we were told we would not be able to have children biologically. Having several close friends and a cousin who were adopted has allowed us to see firsthand how wonderful adoption can be.
We met each other our senior year in college. After several months of friendship, we began dating and within a year we were married. After five years of marriage, we were surprised to be blessed with our daughter. Due to a difficult pregnancy, we decided to grow our family through adoption. This was a natural choice since we already had a desire to adopt and we feel like it is a dream come true!
We live in the beautiful mountains of Virginia and have owned our house for the past six years. Living in a historic neighborhood has proved to be a wonderful atmosphere for our family. With parks, highly rated schools, and a library within walking distance, it is as convenient as it is beautiful.
Dan is enjoying a successful career as a manager for a local company with 80 employees under his leadership. Emily is blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to our two year old daughter. Being outdoors is one of our great loves and hiking, swimming, kayaking, and jogging are favorites. We also enjoy watching football together. Emily’s parents own a house at the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so our vacations are spent there with family. With seven grandkids, two sisters, two brother-in-laws and us, there is never a dull moment!
Family is very important to us and ours is a huge support system for us. Both of our families live several hours away, but we manage to see them at least once a month. We are dedicated Christians and are active in our church where Dan teaches 5th grade Sunday school and Emily directs the women’s ministry.
We strive to be loving parents and will wholeheartedly support our children’s interests. We are blessed to be able to offer many opportunities to a child, such as a college education, and sports and music lessons. Emily takes care of a neighbor’s animals every day, so our children will have the opportunity to experience farm life by caring for the horses, cattle, sheep, and goats. We have a lovable dog, Dexter, who is always up for a car ride or a hike.
Dan is a calm, kind, person with a big heart for children. He is a gentle and loving father. He works hard to provide for his family and plays hard too! Dan loves sports and is excellent at woodworking, fly fishing, and anything outdoors. Emily is fun-loving, spontaneous, and creative. She works hard to create a warm and loving home. She has a knack for making people laugh. Everyone around Emily has a smile on their face either from her sense of humor or because they just ate one of her homemade meals! Our daughter is so excited about becoming a big sister and practices often with her dolls!
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We hope you have great peace in the decision that you make for you and your baby.
Warmly,
Dan and Emily
